The process of making charcoal briquettes can be divided into six steps:

Step 1: Carbonization

Carbonization

The raw materials are fed into a carbonization furnace and heated to about 1,100°F (590°C). Then they are carbonized under anhydrous, oxygen-free, high temperature and high-pressure conditions.

Step 2: Crushing

Use a hammer crusher or roller crusher to crush the carbonized wood, generally they can be crushed into pieces of charcoal to 5mm below to make high-quality charcoal briquettes.

Step 3: Drying

Use a dryer to reduce its moisture content to the level required for briquette formation by about half (to about 15%).

Step 4: Mixing

Raw material needs to be mixed according to different material ratios to ensure that the pressed product is uniform. Mixing time is generally 10-15 minutes until the raw materials are mixed evenly.

Step 5: Briquetting

Briquetting

The charcoal briquetting machine is the core equipment. Due to the combined action of moisture, binders (such as starch), temperature (about 105°F or 40°C) and roller, the briquettes can maintain their shape when they fall from the bottom of the ball press.

Step 6: Cooling

After the briquettes are formed, they need to be cooled to reduce their temperature and increase their strength.
